My trusty bookmark
I have this old bookmark. I don’t recall how I acquired it. But it is my favorite. I use it in the latest (generally) non-fiction book I’m reading. Right now it’s in Tom Peters’ “The Little BIG Things – 163 Ways to Pursue Excellence.”
You should read this book. Everybody who is in business should. But I digress.
My favorite bookmark is in pretty good shape considering I’ve had it a few years. It’s a bit worn, here and there, with signs of extended use, but not abuse.
It’s my favorite bookmark because it has my all-time favorite saying on it. According to the quote, and its author Benjamin Disraeli:
“As a general rule, the most successful people in life are those who have the best information.*”
I couldn’t agree more. Thanks, Benny (if I can call you that!) for such a true and practical remark. I am a life-long learner. You have to be to succeed in this world that changes so fast and runs at breakneck speed.
So I read (a lot!) to stay current. To stay relevant. I always have a couple of non-fiction books going and some trashy fiction for bedtime pleasure. This practice of reading and research continues to serve me well.
Just like my old bookmark.
(*BTW: my bookmark’s quote is actually a gender-neutral version of the original remark made in a different era)

I have this saying prominent in my head, rather than a bookmark or picture frame, “Success Is Where Preparation Meets Opportunity”, Zig Ziglar.
I only hope I don’t loose my mind, otherwise I might not remember the saying.
